Syzygies

2025 | Video installation | 13:19 min | UHD | 9:16 vertical | stereo sound, english subs, TV screen, stainless steel

People sleep in the flickering light of a screen – we follow their dreams. Historical and contemporary dreams, from antiquity to the day after tomorrow; dreams of the famous, and dreams of the unknown; those that gave birth to technologies, those that were dreamed dissentingly under fascisms in Europe and beyond, those that spring from the new wave of automation, and those that tell of today‘s fears and hopes, articulating what is only silently present in society's ambients.

Syzygies is the first iteration of a research-based video installation that explores historical and projective political dreams and combines them with processes of emergence from the more-than-human world. It focuses on the experience of technologically infused everyday life and dreams that have been dreamt in social climates of control, dehumanization and technological progress, and their generative and subversive potential.
